Although called the Basic RiderCourse, the skills developed and practiced in this class can benefit even the most seasoned riders. Successful completion of this course waives further testing with the Colorado DMV for your motorcycle endorsement.

The Basic RiderCourse (BRC) is the best place for new riders to start once you have made the decision to ride. The weekend course schedule utilizes a 2-day format running from 8:00am - 3:00pm both days including a one hour break for lunch. The BRC is conducted at a pace that results in successful completion for most novice riders. Our RiderCoaches will help you learn to the best of your ability.

This is a 15 hour course which consists of a 5 hour eCourse and 10 hours of motorcycle riding. Upon arrival for your first class session you must present a copy of your eCourse Completion Certificate to your Instructor/RiderCoach. If not, you will not be able to participate in your scheduled class and lose your full registration fee.

The eCourse can be done in the comfort of your own home and at your own pace. There is no additional charge for the eCourse. The eCourse will prepare you for your first riding experience and covers topics like basic operation, preparing to ride and some more advanced topics like risk and riding, basic street strategies, intersection and curve management strategy scenarios.

During the on-cycle sessions your RiderCoaches, through a series of fourteen progressive exercises, will coach you in the following areas:
  • Familiarization of motorcycle controls and their operation
  • Clutch control
  • Slow riding skills
  • Shifting and basic braking
  • Adjusting speed and turning
  • Cornering, swerving, and countersteering
  • Stopping on a curve
  • Stopping quickly

We provide the motorcycles and helmets for this class (you may use your own DOT approved helmet if you have one). Students must provide eye protection (goggles, eye or sunglasses) full fingered gloves, long sleeve shirt or jacket, long sturdy pants, and over-the-ankle footwear. Anyone under the age of 18 is required to have at least a driving permit prior to starting the class and a signed waiver by their parent or legal guardian.

Successful completion of the BRC provides State licensing waivers for both the written and riding tests. Additionally, some insurers provide insurance premium discounts upon presentation of your completion card. You'll smile with satisfaction as your RiderCoach hands you that course completion card starting an adventure you will never forget or regret.

If you must reschedule and fail to contact us at least 72 hours before the start of your class, a $75 rescheduling fee will be applied. Cancellations and/or "No Shows" under that same 72 hour period will lose their full registration fee.
